Zelensky Rejects Donald Trump's Call for Immediate Ceasefire

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky has firmly rejected a proposal from US President-elect Donald Trump for an immediate ceasefire in the ongoing conflict with Russia.

The call for a ceasefire was made during a meeting in Paris, which included French President Emmanuel Macron.

In a statement released on social media, Zelensky emphasized that peace cannot be achieved through "just a piece of paper and a few signatures." He insisted that any agreement must come with solid security guarantees to prevent future hostilities.

"A ceasefire without guarantees can be reignited at any moment," Zelensky stated, highlighting the need for reliable peace measures to ensure the safety of Ukrainians.

Trump, who has been vocal about his ability to end the conflict swiftly if he returns to the White House, suggested that Ukraine is eager to "make a deal and stop the madness." However, Zelensky countered this claim, asserting that the situation is more complex and requires comprehensive solutions beyond mere negotiations.

The Ukrainian leader also ruled out any territorial concessions to Moscow, stating, "In the occupied territories of Ukraine, at least several million people remain," underscoring the importance of maintaining Ukraine's territorial integrity.

Moscow, on the other hand, has maintained that any resolution must involve Ukraine withdrawing its forces from Russian-claimed territories and adhering to neutrality. This stance further complicates the path to peace, as both sides hold firm to their conditions.
