The newly appointed head coach of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim has expressed concerns about the team's ball retention ahead of their Premier League match against Ipswich Town.
In his first press conference, Amorim highlighted that "we lose the ball too often," emphasizing the need for the team to improve in maintaining possession. He noted that better ball control is crucial for the team's success and stressed the importance of being "very good in the small details."
Amorim, who took over the managerial role recently, acknowledged the challenges of adapting to a club as large and complex as Manchester United. He described the club as "bigger than I imagined" and mentioned the numerous departments involved, which differ from his previous experience at Sporting.
Despite these challenges, he expressed confidence in his ability to lead the team, stating, "I am a dreamer and I believe in myself. I believe in the club and we have the same idea and same mindset."
The Portuguese coach also addressed comparisons with José Mourinho, another renowned Portuguese manager, asserting his distinct approach: "I am different from Mourinho. I am a different person." Amorim emphasized his belief in his methods, saying, "I choose always 100% our way," and expressed optimism about the players' willingness to adapt to new positions and strategies.
As Manchester United prepares for their upcoming match, Amorim's focus remains on refining the team's playstyle and ensuring they are ready to meet the demands of the Premier League.
