Yahaya Bello Takes Charge as Judge Storms Out of Courtroom During Arraignment

A dramatic scene unfolded at the FCT High Court during the arraignment of former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello. The courtroom was set for a significant legal proceeding involving Bello, who faced 16 criminal charges. However, the session took an unexpected turn when Justice Maryann Anenih left the courtroom in frustration due to overcrowding.

Justice Anenih, tasked with taking the pleas of Bello and two others, abruptly rose and declared she would not return until order was restored. This sudden departure left the courtroom in disarray, with tensions running high among the attendees.

In a surprising move, Yahaya Bello himself stepped up to manage the situation. Witnesses reported that Bello, who had been seated at the front, quickly moved towards the crowd and began directing his followers to vacate their seats. "Please, let's maintain order," he reportedly urged, ensuring that his supporters exited the courtroom one by one without resistance.

Bello's intervention proved effective, as the tension subsided and order was gradually restored. He positioned himself at the entrance, personally overseeing the exit of his aides and followers, who complied patiently with his instructions.

The legal proceedings were closely watched, with Kemi Pinheiro SAN leading the federal government's prosecution team, while Joseph Bodunde Dauda SAN represented Bello. The case has drawn significant public attention, with figures like Dino Melaye mocking Bello's legal predicament, referring to him as the "White Lion docked."
