Woman Who Assaulted FRSC Officer Remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Prison

A middle-aged woman, Monalisa Osayi, has been remanded in Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison following her arraignment for allegedly assaulting an officer of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).

The incident, which occurred on December 7, was widely circulated via a viral video, prompting swift legal action.

According to court documents, Osayi was accused of attacking MA-II Habeeb Ndaman Sayidi of the RS2.19 Lekki Unit Command during a routine patrol.

The altercation reportedly escalated when Osayi incited the local community against the patrol team, leading to charges of assault and breach of public peace.

Osayi was apprehended on Sunday, December 15, after a concerted effort by law enforcement to ensure her accountability.

Initially released on bail by the Ajah Divisional Police Headquarters, she was later detained through strategic coordination by the Unit Commander. On Monday, December 16, she appeared before Magistrate Oyaniyi FP at Court 3 of the Eti-Osa Magistrate Court, where she pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The court granted Osayi bail under stringent conditions, including a payment of 100,000 Naira and the provision of two family-member sureties with valid tax clearances. Until these conditions are met, she remains in custody at Kirikiri Maximum Security Prison.
