Nigerian personalities have dominated the "Africa's Most Talked About People of 2024" list, as compiled by Top Charts Africa.
The list, which highlights individuals who have significantly impacted public discourse across the continent, features 18 Nigerians among the top 30.
Leading the list is Nigerian music sensation Wizkid, whose ongoing feud with fellow artist Davido and the release of his latest album, 'Morayo,' have kept him at the forefront of media attention.
"Wizkid has been a constant presence in the headlines this year," noted a spokesperson from Top Charts Africa. "His musical achievements and personal controversies have captivated audiences both locally and internationally."
Following closely is Kenya's President William Ruto, who made global headlines after rejecting a controversial tax legislation bill amidst widespread protests.
His decisive actions earned him the second spot on the list.
Davido, another Nigerian afrobeats star, secured the third position, largely due to his high-profile wedding to Chioma, which was dubbed 'Chivido 2024.'
The event was widely covered and celebrated across social media platforms.
Nigeria's President Bola Ahmed Tinubu also featured prominently, ranking fourth. His leadership has been a subject of intense discussion, particularly following his efforts to address national security issues and economic challenges.
Aliko Dangote, the renowned business magnate, praised Tinubu for his role in the "crude for Naira deal," further cementing his influence.
The list also includes other notable Nigerian figures such as Bobrisky, a controversial crossdresser known for challenging societal norms, and Peter Obi, a prominent politician.
Additionally, Baltasar Engonga from Equatorial Guinea gained notoriety after intimate videos of him went viral, placing him at number 24.
