Manchester City faced Feyenoord in a UEFA Champions League match at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday night which ended in a dramatic 3-3 draw.
Despite taking a commanding three-goal lead, City faltered in the final stages of the game, allowing Feyenoord to equalize with three goals in just 15 minutes. Erling Haaland scored twice for City, with Ilkay Gündogan adding another, but defensive lapses proved costly.
Pep Guardiola, City's manager, expressed his frustration post-match, acknowledging the team's recent struggles. "We lost a lot of games lately, we're fragile and of course we needed a victory," he stated.
Guardiola highlighted mental lapses as a potential issue, noting, "The first goal cannot happen and the second as well. After that we forget what happened, we were desperate to win and do well, we do well but don't win games."
City's defensive errors were pivotal, with Josko Gvardiol's mistakes leading to two of Feyenoord's goals. Anis Hadj Moussa capitalized on a careless back pass, Santiago Giménez scored from a cross after another misplaced pass, and Dávid Hancko headed in the equalizer following a cross by Igor Paixão.
This result extended City's winless streak to six games, raising concerns ahead of their upcoming Premier League clash against Liverpool. Guardiola emphasized the need for mental resilience, urging his team to "stay strong mentally, believe in ourselves, and stay together." The draw left City in a precarious position in the Champions League standings, sitting 15th with eight points.
