West Ham United has launched an investigation after multiple altercations erupted among fans during their home game against Arsenal on Saturday night. The match, which ended in a 5-2 victory for Arsenal, was overshadowed by these incidents, prompting swift action from the club.
The evening began with Arsenal taking a commanding 4-0 lead in the first half, leaving West Ham supporters visibly frustrated. As tensions rose, video footage circulated on social media showing fights breaking out in the stands, with reports suggesting that some Arsenal fans had infiltrated the home end, sitting among the Hammers' supporters.
A spokesperson for West Ham stated, "The club is aware of the incident and will be working to identify the offender(s). In line with our zero-tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be given an indefinite ban and therefore be unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the club."
Eyewitnesses reported that stewards were quick to intervene, although there were unconfirmed accounts of a male fan being left unconscious during the fracas. The club has condemned the behavior, emphasizing that such actions have no place at their stadium.
West Ham's manager, Julen Lopetegui, expressed his frustration over the day's events, both on and off the pitch. "Overall, I am frustrated in the first half. We deserved two goals, but they didn't deserve five. We were unlucky in the decisions, in my opinion," he remarked post-match.
