We Suffered Again - Amorim Expresses Disappointment as Manchester United Falls 3-0 to Bournemouth

Manchester United faced a major setback in their Premier League campaign with a 3-0 defeat against Bournemouth on Sunday. This match highlighted ongoing issues within the team, particularly concerning their vulnerability to set-pieces.

Manager Ruben Amorim candidly addressed these challenges in his post-match comments, emphasizing the need for improvement and resilience.

The match against Bournemouth was a stark contrast to Manchester United's previous performance, where they secured a 2-1 victory over Manchester City. This inconsistency has been a recurring theme for the team throughout the season.

Amorim noted, "It’s hard to push for two, three wins and we are trying. This game was hard on us. We suffered again on set-pieces and we were a bit nervous, I felt it in the stadium."

Bournemouth capitalized on Manchester United's defensive frailties, with goals from Dean Huijsen, Justin Kluivert, and Antoine Semenyo. These goals showed United's struggles with set-piece situations, an area that Amorim acknowledged needed urgent attention.

"If you look at the game, we were not conceding anything before the first goal, we had opportunities. If we manage to score the first goal then the game should be different," Amorim explained.

The pattern of conceding goals from set-pieces has been a persistent issue for Manchester United. Amorim's comments reflect a broader concern about the team's mental state during matches, particularly after conceding penalties. He stated, "After the penalty, we need to control the game better because we know this situation is really hard. We have to control better this moment."

This nervousness and lack of composure have hindered United's ability to maintain control and dictate the pace of the game. Amorim emphasized the importance of focusing on the task at hand rather than succumbing to external pressures: "We have to focus on the job and not what you feel in the stadium. It’s the only way I know how to focus my players."

Addressing these challenges requires a multifaceted approach. Amorim's strategy involves instilling confidence and composure in his players, particularly during high-pressure situations. The manager is committed to working on these aspects, stating, "We have to suffer again but we will try to win. We will do it until the end."
