The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors' Forum has announced that it is currently reviewing the results of the recent Ondo State governorship election.
This decision was made following a meeting held in Jos, the Plateau State capital, on Saturday, in reaction to Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) victory in the election, which took place last weekend.
In a resolution passed during the meeting, the PDP governors accused the APC of manipulating the election process. Bala Mohammed, the Chairman of the Forum and Governor of Bauchi State, addressed the press, stating, "Meanwhile, we are still examining the documents on the Ondo elections where the APC manipulated results after openly buying votes."
The PDP Governors' Forum expressed concerns about the integrity of the electoral process and called on the judiciary to protect Nigerian democracy. They also urged the National Assembly to review the country's electoral laws to prevent institutional sabotage of the people's will.
The forum highlighted similar issues in the Edo State governorship election, describing it as a "rape of democracy." They claimed that the PDP candidate in Edo, Asue Ighodalo, had won the election but alleged that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) manipulated the results in favor of the APC candidate.
