Vice President Shettima Heads to Dubai for Launch of Oil Facility

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed from Abuja today, embarking on a significant diplomatic mission to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

He is set to represent President Bola Tinubu at the commissioning of a $315 million oil production and storage facility, a project that underscores Nigeria's commitment to bolstering its energy infrastructure.

The facility, which is fully owned by Nigeria's Oriental Energy Limited, marks a pivotal development in the nation's oil and gas sector. Scheduled for commissioning on December 14, this venture highlights the strategic investments being made to enhance Nigeria's economic landscape.

Following the event in Dubai, Vice President Shettima will proceed to Saudi Arabia to perform the Lesser Hajj (Umrah) in the holy cities of Madinah and Makkah from December 16 to 19.

This spiritual journey will be complemented by a series of high-level meetings aimed at fostering international cooperation.

On December 20, Shettima is slated to meet with the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) in Jeddah. Discussions will center on co-financing arrangements for the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ Phase II) and enhancing the coordination of IsDB projects in Nigeria.

These initiatives are designed to bolster the nation’s agricultural and economic development.

"The collaboration with the Islamic Development Bank is crucial for advancing our agricultural sector and ensuring sustainable economic growth," a government spokesperson noted.
