Verydarkman Challenges Court Ruling in Falana and Falz Defamation Case

Martins Otse, widely recognized as VeryDarkMan, is set to appeal a recent ruling by the Lagos State High Court.

The court's decision, delivered on October 14, by Justice M.O. Dawodu, favored prominent human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN) and his son, the popular musician Folarin Falana, known as Falz.

This case centers around allegedly defamatory statements made by VeryDarkMan in a conversation involving Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky.

The controversy began when Falana and Falz filed a lawsuit against VeryDarkMan, demanding a retraction of statements they deemed defamatory.

These statements were related to an alleged scheme involving Falz to secure a presidential pardon for Bobrisky, who had faced legal issues. The court ordered VeryDarkMan to remove the contentious video and comments from his social media platforms and prohibited him from further disseminating similar content.

VeryDarkMan, however, is challenging this ruling. In motions filed with the court, he argues that the decision was "based solely on the respondent’s affidavit," suggesting that it may not reflect a correct application of the law.

He emphasized the importance of judicial discretion, stating, "A refusal to grant leave may result in the enforcement of a decision that does not reflect a correct application of the law, leading to outcomes that may be detrimental not only to the parties involved but also to the administration of justice as a whole."
