President-elect Donald Trump has nominated Warren Stephens, a prominent billionaire investment banker, to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Kingdom.
This appointment shows Trump's preference for appointing experienced business figures to pivotal international roles. Warren Stephens, 67, is the chairman, president, and CEO of Stephens Inc., a financial services firm based in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Known for his conservative views and substantial philanthropic contributions, Stephens is one of the wealthiest individuals in Arkansas, with a net worth exceeding $3 billion. His nomination comes amidst speculation that New York Jets owner Woody Johnson might have been considered for a second term in this prestigious position.
Trump expressed his enthusiasm for the appointment on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "I am pleased to announce that Warren A. Stephens, one of the most successful businessmen in the Country, has been nominated to serve as the United States Ambassador to the Court of St. James’s."
He further praised Stephens for building a "wonderful financial services firm" and for his dedication to community service.
Stephens will reside at Winfield House, the official residence of the U.S. Ambassador in London, which offers a scenic view of Regents Park. This role will allow him to represent the United States in fostering relations with one of its closest allies, the United Kingdom.
