Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, has ordered immediate repairs on the Osisioma Flyover.
This infrastructure, commissioned in 2022 by the previous administration, has shown signs of deterioration much sooner than expected.
The governor expressed his surprise and concern over the rapid decline of the flyover's condition, stating, "We don’t want the bridge to collapse.
We do not know why, two years after commissioning, the bridge would be caving in, but we’ll find out and repair it."
Governor Otti has tasked the Abia State Commissioner for Works, Don Otumchere Oti, with deploying a team to address the failing sections of the interchange without delay.
This directive was given during a ceremony at Eziama Aba, where new projects were being commissioned by the outgoing Local Government Chairman of Aba North LGA, John Udeagbala.
Emphasizing the principle that "government is a continuum," Governor Otti assured the public that any deficiencies from past administrations would be corrected.
He also praised the performance of the outgoing Aba North Chairman, noting that all 17 outgoing local government area bosses had justified their appointments and would be re-engaged in other governance roles.
In addition to addressing the flyover's issues, Governor Otti announced plans to enhance the state's infrastructure by repairing and beautifying streets such as Azikiwe Road, Port Harcourt Road, and the stretch from Aba-Owerri to Umungasi.
