Newcastle United and league leaders Liverpool played a thrilling Premier League match at St. James' Park on Wednesday, December 4, ending in a thrilling 3-3 draw. The match witnessed a late equalizer from Fabian Schar, denying Liverpool a victory that seemed within their grasp.

The game kicked off with Newcastle taking the lead in the 35th minute through Alexander Isak's spectacular shot from the edge of the area. Liverpool responded swiftly in the second half, with Curtis Jones leveling the score at 1-1 just five minutes after the restart, thanks to a superb pass from Mohamed Salah.

Newcastle regained their advantage in the 62nd minute when Anthony Gordon found the back of the net. However, Liverpool's Egyptian forward, Mohamed Salah, showcased his brilliance by scoring twice, first in the 68th minute and then again in the 83rd minute, putting Liverpool ahead 3-2.

As the clock ticked towards full time, Newcastle's persistence paid off. In the 90th minute, Fabian Schar capitalized on a mistake by Liverpool's goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher, slotting home the equalizer and sending the home fans into raptures.

Liverpool, who remain at the top of the Premier League table with 35 points from 14 games, saw their lead over Chelsea reduced to seven points. "It was a tough match, but we showed resilience," said Liverpool manager Arne Slot after the game.
