American singer and actress, Selena Gomez, has revealed that she took a break from her music career to prepare for her role in the upcoming Spanish musical, 'Emilia Pérez'.
Speaking at a Question-and-Answer session with the cast of the film at the Telluride Film Festival on Sunday, Gomez shared insights into her intense preparation process. "I stopped working on my music and anything else, and solely focused on this [musical]. Every day, I’d wake up and rehearse the lines over and over again. And I’d call in the middle of the night, my Spanish teacher," said the 32-year-old star, emphasizing her dedication to mastering her character, Jessi Del Monte.
Gomez described her experience of singing in the movie as "therapeutic," highlighting the emotional and personal growth she underwent during the filming process.
The film, which also stars Zoe Saldaña, is described as “an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations.”
The first trailer for 'Emilia Pérez' was released by Netflix on August 26, generating excitement among fans and critics alike.
