The United Bank for Africa (UBA) Group is set to expand its operations by opening a branch in Saudi Arabia next year, as part of its broader strategy to increase its presence across Africa.

This ambitious plan was announced by the Group Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Oliver Alawuba, during a send-forth dinner held in honor of the bank’s retired non-executive directors in Abuja on December 5th, 2024.

Alawuba highlighted that UBA employs over 25,000 staff and serves more than 45 million customers across 24 countries, emphasizing the bank's commitment to building a sustainable institution.

He stated, "Our chairman was in Saudi Arabia recently and announced that UBA will establish its presence there next year. We will also launch additional African subsidiaries, ensuring that the bank grows from strength to strength." The expansion into Saudi Arabia marks a pivotal milestone for UBA, which has been providing uninterrupted banking services since 1949.
