Tinubu Launches Initiative to Bring Nigerian Children Back to School

President Bola Tinubu has unveiled a comprehensive "return to class" initiative aimed at reducing the number of out-of-school children.

Speaking from Paris during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron, Tinubu emphasized his administration's commitment to prioritizing education as a cornerstone for national development.

The President outlined a strategic plan that includes innovative educational programs and skills development initiatives designed to motivate school-age children to return to classrooms.

"In order to bridge the gap for some who are of age, and have been out of school for a while, we will encourage skills development," Tinubu stated, highlighting the dual focus on traditional education and practical skill acquisition.

Acknowledging the challenges posed by insecurity in certain regions, which hinder children's access to education, Tinubu noted the government's efforts to enhance security through "kinetic" strategies. He expressed optimism about achieving greater stability, which would facilitate not only educational progress but also agricultural productivity, as more farmers return to their fields.

President Macron, reflecting on his own experiences in Nigeria, recognized the country's vast potential and the critical role of education in unlocking it. He expressed gratitude for Tinubu's visit and pledged to strengthen the France-Nigeria partnership, particularly in educational initiatives.
