Tinubu Asserts Nigeria's Progress Amid Economic Criticism

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu confidently declared that Nigeria is advancing despite facing criticism over his economic policies.

The president emphasized the nation's trajectory towards recovery, underscoring the significance of the 2025 budget proposal, which he described as a "restoration of hope."

During the session, President Tinubu addressed the economic hardships currently confronting the country, urging Nigerians to exhibit understanding and cooperation. "Nigeria is moving forward regardless of critics," he stated, highlighting the importance of patience as substantial changes cannot be accomplished within a single calendar year.

The president also defended his decision to remove the fuel subsidy in May 2023, a move that sparked considerable debate.

He expressed no regrets about this controversial policy shift, which he believes is crucial for the country's economic restructuring.

Tinubu's administration has been focusing on several key areas, including tax reforms and borrowing strategies. He has been vocal about the necessity of updating Nigeria's economic laws, stating, "We can’t retool Nigeria’s economy with obsolete laws." This stance reflects his commitment to eliminating remnants of colonial rule from the nation's economic framework.
