President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has urged Nigerians to remain patient and look beyond the current hardships, insisting that his administration's policies would eventually yield positive results.
The address came amidst ongoing #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protests, which have seen widespread public dissatisfaction with the nation's economic and social conditions.
President Tinubu highlighted several key achievements of his administration, including the removal of fuel subsidies and the floating of the naira.
These bold policies, he argued, are essential steps towards propelling Nigeria's economy out of its downturns. "Our policies will propel the economy out of downturns," Tinubu asserted, emphasizing the long-term benefits over the immediate pains.
Despite these assurances, the President's speech received mixed reactions from Nigerians. On social media platform X, users like Olagunju Oladele criticized the address for focusing more on achievements rather than addressing the specific demands of the protesters.
Aliyu Tanimu echoed this sentiment, stating that while Tinubu condemned violence, he failed to empathize with the masses' grievances, choosing instead to highlight economic reforms amidst widespread suffering.
