Cristiano Ronaldo, at 39, has made history by becoming the first player to score 900 career goals. In a candid interview with his former Manchester United teammate Rio Ferdinand, Ronaldo opened up about his family life and how his competitive nature has influenced his five children.
His eldest son, Cristiano Jr., is currently part of Al-Nassr's youth team, while Ronaldo continues playing for their senior side.
Ronaldo revealed that his competitiveness has spread to his children, stating, "They all have my personality." He shared an anecdote from a recent trip to the Red Sea, where he and Cristiano Jr. got so competitive while playing padel that they didn't speak for two days.
This competitiveness is not limited to his eldest; even his younger son Matteo shows similar traits. Ronaldo explained, "Seriously, my kids, they are like me. I don't teach them but they see by example because sometimes when I lose I get angry, sometimes I cry, depends on the moment."
Despite his son's passion for football, Ronaldo emphasizes the importance of allowing him to make his own mistakes and grow independently.
"Right in this moment, Cristiano wants to be a football player but I don't make big pressure, I make a little," he said. He acknowledges the inherent pressure of being his son but insists on not adding to it. "He's 14 years old, he has pressure already to be the son of Cristiano [senior]. Let him do his own mistakes, but I hope that in the future he can be a professional player. If he doesn't become a player, maybe another job, but I will always support him. We cannot put pressure on our sons because we are famous."
