The National Assembly has assured President Bola Tinubu that the Tax Reform Bills he submitted in October will be passed.
This commitment was made during the presentation of the 2025 budget, showing the legislative body's support for the President's economic agenda.
The four bills in question the Joint Revenue Board of Nigeria (Establishment) Bill, Nigeria Revenue Service (Establishment) Bill, Nigeria Tax Administration Bill, and Nigeria Tax Bill are poised to revolutionize the country's tax system.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio praised the initiative, stating, "Your Excellency, we commend you on your groundbreaking tax reform initiative. These reforms represent a monumental shift in our fiscal landscape."
Akpabio further emphasized the importance of public engagement, noting, "It is disheartening that those who have not taken the time to understand these bills are the loudest critics.
I urge all Nigerians, especially those in public office, to engage with these vital reforms thoughtfully."
House Speaker Tajudeen Abbas echoed this sentiment, assuring that the National Assembly would provide the necessary legislative backing for the reforms. "NASS is fully committed to supporting the 2025 budget which had just been laid before us today and as well as other ones, forwarded to us for consideration and passage," Abbas stated.
