SZA Takes a Break From the Music Scene

Grammy-winning R&B artist known for her hit songs "Kill Bill," "Good Days," and "Snooze," SZA has announced a hiatus from live performances. The announcement came after her headlining set at Montreal's Osheaga Festival on August 5, 2024.

SZA, whose real name is Solána Imani Rowe, shared on social media, "Yesterday was my last show for a while. Finally 'bout to get my life together. Thank you God."

This decision comes at a peak in her career, following the success of her sophomore album, *SOS*, which earned her nine Grammy nominations in 2024, the most for any artist that year. Despite her commercial and critical acclaim, SZA expressed the need to focus on personal matters.

Her music, often described as neo-soul with elements of alternative R&B, hip-hop, and soul, has resonated deeply with fans, exploring themes of heartbreak, sexuality, and self-image.

Raised in Maplewood, New Jersey, in an orthodox Muslim tradition, SZA's journey to fame began with self-released EPs before becoming the first female artist signed to Top Dawg Entertainment in 2013. Her debut studio album, *Ctrl*, released in 2017, catapulted her to stardom, featuring popular tracks like "Broken Clocks" and "The Weekend."
