Oran Routh, the 35-year-old son of Ryan Wesley Routh, who allegedly attempted to assassinate former U.S. President Donald Trump, was arrested on September 24, 2024, on charges of possessing child pornography.
Federal agents discovered hundreds of illicit images and videos involving children, some as young as six years old, during a search of his Greensboro, North Carolina home.
This search was part of a separate investigation linked to his father's criminal activities.
According to court documents, the federal agents found the disturbing content on multiple electronic devices, including two Samsung Galaxy Note 9 phones.
One of these phones was found in a laptop bag, while the other was on Oran's person. The devices contained "hundreds of child pornography files," with some videos showing children being sexually abused.
Additionally, a messaging app often used for distributing such content was found on one of the phones, with messages from July requesting previews of the illicit material before sending files.
Oran Routh has a history of legal troubles, including previous arrests in North Carolina for driving while impaired, assaulting a female, and interfering in emergency communication.
His father, Ryan Wesley Routh, is accused of attempting to kill Donald Trump on September 15, 2024, at Trump's golf club in West Palm Beach, Florida. Ryan Routh reportedly sent a letter to a friend admitting his intentions to kill Trump due to disagreements over Trump's views on Russia, the Ukraine war, and other foreign policy matters.

The arrest of Oran Routh underscores the severe issues related to child exploitation and the long-term impacts of familial notoriety.
As of now, details regarding Oran's legal representation have not been disclosed.
