Some people want to keep my success from coming too fast -Rema talks about afrobeats big 4

Rema shares his thoughts on why some people hesitate to pay tribute to him.

Following the global success of his single "Calm Down," Rema has repeatedly stated that he belongs in the company of Afrobeat's biggest flag-bearers.

On both his EP 'Ravage' and his recently released sophomore album 'HEIS'.

Rema has confidently stated his claims to a place next to the 'Afrobeats Big 3', as the trio comprising Davido, Wizkid and Burna Boy are known.

Rema said some people might not want to accept his claims that he is at the level of the Afrobeats Big 3 because he hasn't even spent a decade in the game. "I think success came too soon and some people wish it hadn't come so soon," Rema said of his meteoric rise, buoyed in part by the success of his record-breaking song "Calm Down" with Selena Gomez.

You know, when they want to show you respect but you have to be in the game for 10 years, I don't think my career followed those rules. "I've only been in the game for three years and I've already broken a seven-year-old record," Rema added.

"All due respect to the OGs, I'm one of them..." Rema said in response to a question about whether he felt he deserved to be placed next to Davido, Burna Boy and Wizkid. During the interview, Rema spoke about his second album, HEIS, and said it was motivated by a desire to challenge the status quo.
