A naval personnel, was arrested for fatally shooting a fellow soldier in the Dansadau area of Katsina State, Nigeria.
The event occurred on October 26, 2024, at approximately 0312hrs during Operation FANSAN YAMMA, which involves troops deployed in the region.
The Defense Headquarters has confirmed that an investigation is underway. According to Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defense Media Operations, "After investigation, the case will be escalated to a standing court martial which is usually set up to address such misdemeanour among troops."
This process ensures that the incident is thoroughly examined and appropriate legal actions are taken.
In the wake of this tragedy, administrative procedures are being conducted to notify the family of the deceased soldier.
The authorities have emphasized the need for sensitivity and discretion in handling this matter. "It is for this reason, his name is not yet released to the public.
