Ashley Grayson, a 35-year-old American social media influencer known for her online business acumen, has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison.
The sentence follows her conviction in a murder-for-hire plot that targeted three individuals, including a rival business owner and an online critic.
Grayson, who portrayed herself as a successful entrepreneur and philanthropist, approached a couple in Memphis with a chilling proposition.
She offered them $60,000 to eliminate her ex-partner, a competitor from Mississippi, and a Texas woman who had posted negative comments about her online.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Western District of Tennessee, Grayson described this as a "business opportunity," offering $20,000 per target.
The couple, however, did not carry out the plan. Instead, they recorded Grayson's proposal and handed the evidence over to law enforcement.
This decisive action led to Grayson's arrest and subsequent conviction. Acting U.S. Attorney Reagan Fondren remarked on the case, stating, "This was a 21st-century crime where online feuds and senseless rivalries bled into the real world."
Grayson received the maximum sentence of 120 months, with no possibility of parole due to the federal nature of the charges. Her husband was acquitted of any involvement in the scheme.
