Serie A: Fiorentina Midfielder, Edoardo Bove ‘Under Sedation in ICU’ After Collapsing on the Pitch During Inter Milan Match

Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove collapsed on the pitch while playing against Inter Milan.

The 22-year-old's sudden fall occurred in the 16th minute of the game, prompting referee Daniele Doveri to halt play immediately.

Medical staff rushed to Bove's aid as players and staff formed a protective wall around him, with many visibly shaken by the scene. Bove was swiftly transported from the stadium to a hospital, where he is currently under pharmacological sedation in intensive care.

Fiorentina released a statement confirming that initial cardiological and neurological tests have fortunately ruled out acute damage to his central nervous and cardio-respiratory systems.

"Edoardo Bove will be re-evaluated in the next 24 hours," the club stated, offering a glimmer of hope amidst the concern.

The match was suspended following the incident, with Inter Milan expressing solidarity with Bove and his family.

Giuseppe Marotta, president of Inter, remarked, "Inter and the entire football world express their closeness to Bove's family and Fiorentina. We hope it is nothing serious."

The Serie A league has announced that the match will be rescheduled for a later date.
