Senate Refutes Claims of Neglect at Senator Ubah's Burial

The Nigerian Senate has firmly denied allegations that it neglected the burial of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah, who represented Anambra South Senatorial District.

Reports suggesting that the Senate was poorly represented at the funeral have been labeled as "mere media insinuation" by Yemi Adaramodu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Publicity.

In a statement issued on Monday, November 25, Adaramodu emphasized the Senate's commitment to honoring Senator Ubah, stating, "His seat was adorned with the national flag, which was a huge honour and recognition of his contributions to the Senate and the good people he represented."

He further highlighted that the Senate dedicated an entire legislative day to pay tribute to Ubah, a gesture unprecedented in its history.

Adaramodu also noted that a significant number of senators, 100 out of 109, attended the valedictory session, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, who praised Ubah's accomplishments as a philanthropist, businessman, and politician.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, led a high-powered delegation to Ubah's Lagos residence to express condolences to his family.

Addressing the media reports, Adaramodu remarked, "It is preposterous that anyone under any guise would suggest that the Senate failed in its role to honour the memory of Senator Ifeanyi Ubah."

He assured that substantial members of the Senate were present in Nnewi for the burial, having reached out to the family beforehand.

The Senate's actions, according to Adaramodu, demonstrate their respect and appreciation for Ubah's contributions, dismissing the media claims as unfounded and baseless.
