Senate Confirms Oluyede as New Chief of Army Staff

The Nigerian Senate confirmed the appointment of Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).

This decision followed a thorough review and recommendation by the Senate committee on Army, chaired by Senator Yar’ adua, Abdulaziz Musa from Katsina Central.

The confirmation was a unanimous decision by the upper chamber, reflecting a strong consensus on Oluyede's capability to lead the nation's army.

The appointment comes in the wake of the unfortunate illness and subsequent passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, who previously held the position.

In response to this leadership void, Lieutenant General Oluyede had been serving in an acting capacity before his official confirmation.
