Russian President Putin Speaks About Third World War

F.Adenike

Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to alleviate growing concerns about the potential for a third world war.

Speaking amidst heightened geopolitical tensions, Putin emphasized that there is "no need to scare anyone" regarding the possibility of a global conflict.

The Russian leader's remarks come at a time when relations between Russia and Western nations have been increasingly strained. Earlier this year, Putin accused the West of risking a global clash, warning that Moscow could potentially arm countries with the intent of targeting Western interests.

Despite these previous statements, his latest comments suggest a shift towards de-escalation. Putin reiterated that Russia's goals remain unchanged, particularly in relation to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

He stated unequivocally, "There will be no peace until Russia achieves its objectives," underscoring the steadfastness of Russia's position in the region.

The international community remains wary, as a 2023 poll by Pew Research Center revealed that 87% of respondents across 24 countries expressed distrust towards Putin, with only 11% feeling confident in his leadership.

This sentiment reflects broader apprehensions about Russia's actions on the world stage.
