The House of Representatives has postponed its return date by a week.
MPs were due to return from annual break on Tuesday, September 17, but the resumption of plenary sitting has been postponed until 11am on Tuesday, September 24.
In a statement, House of Representatives spokesman Akintunde Rotimi said the decision to postpone the resumption date was conveyed to House members through an internal memo by the House Clerk, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, and was based on instructions from the House leadership.
The reason for the postponement of the resumption date is unclear. Rotimi also revealed that when the House reconvenes, it will inaugurate the new board of the Public Complaints Commission, PCC, and the joint Senate/House ad hoc committees on the oil industry inquiry on September 25.
