Rapper Lil Durk's Arrest Gets International Attention Over Alleged Murder-for-Hire Plot

Popular Chicago rapper Lil Durk, whose real name is Durk Banks, was arrested in South Florida recently.

He faces serious charges related to a murder-for-hire scheme. The arrest is part of an extensive federal investigation linking him to the 2022 murder of Saviay’a Robinson, also known as Lul Pab, who was the cousin of fellow rapper Quando Rondo.

Lil Durk is currently being held without bond in Broward County Jail. According to police records, he is awaiting transfer to U.S. Marshals, indicating that federal authorities are taking over the case.

The indictment filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles accuses Durk and five other Chicago natives—Kavon London Grant, Deandre Dontrell Wilson, Keith Jones, David Brian Lindsey, and Asa Houston—of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire, committing murder-for-hire involving a death, and using a machine gun in a violent crime resulting in death.

Prosecutors allege that these individuals were supported by resources from Lil Durk’s collective, OTF (Only The Family). They claim that OTF offered "lucrative music opportunities" to anyone who could eliminate Quando Rondo.

Among the evidence presented are flights and rental car reservations reportedly paid for with a credit card linked to the OTF label.

This case highlights the complex and often dangerous intersections between the music industry and criminal activities, particularly within certain rap circles.
