Rapper DaBaby Settles Sucker-Punch Lawsuit to Avoid Jail Time from 2020 Music Video Shoot

Rapper DaBaby has successfully avoided jail time by settling a lawsuit stemming from a 2020 music video shoot that turned violent.

The incident occurred in December 2020 when DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, was accused of sucker-punching California homeowner Gary Pagar during an unauthorized video shoot at Pagar's rental property. The altercation led to a felony battery case against the rapper.

In a bid to avoid jail time, DaBaby accepted a misdemeanor plea deal and agreed to pay $10,000 in restitution to Pagar. Additionally, he was ordered to stay 100 yards away from Pagar and is forbidden from possessing firearms and deadly weapons. The settlement, reached on September 27, 2024, marks the end of a three-and-a-half-year legal battle.

The court documents reveal that both parties have asked the courts to cancel all future conference dates to finalize the settlement. This resolution allows DaBaby to move forward without the looming threat of jail time. Coinciding with the settlement, DaBaby released his first project in two years, titled "How TF Is This A Mixtape?"
