A Las Vegas judge has ordered R&B singer Tremaine Neverson, popularly known as Trey Songz, to pay over $11 million in damages.
This judgment comes after allegations that Neverson and his security team assaulted Tyrelle Dunn, a Maryland Capitol police officer, during an incident at The Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas on November 28, 2021.
The altercation reportedly occurred when Dunn attempted to rescue his wife, who claimed she was being held against her will in Neverson's hotel room.
According to court documents, Dunn suffered severe injuries, including scarring and fractured eye sockets, as a result of the attack. Despite the gravity of the accusations, Neverson did not respond to the lawsuit, leading to a summary judgment in favor of Dunn.
The financial breakdown of the judgment includes nearly $28,000 for medical expenses, $5 million for pain and suffering, $5 million for punitive damages, and $1.2 million for prejudgment interest.
This case adds to a series of legal challenges faced by Neverson, who has been previously accused of sexual misconduct, although no criminal charges were filed in this instance.
