President Tinubu and First Lady Sen. Oluremi to Depart Nigeria for France for a State Visit


President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu are set to depart Nigeria for a three-day state visit to France on November 27, 2024.


This visit comes at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and aims to bolster the political, economic, and cultural relations between the two nations.


According to a statement released by presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga, the visit promises to "focus on strengthening political, economic, and cultural relations and establishing more opportunities for partnership."


Key areas of discussion will include agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition.


The itinerary includes initial ceremonies at the historic Les Invalides and Palais de l'Élysée, where President Tinubu and his wife will be received by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron.


The leaders will engage in bilateral meetings to harmonize positions on stimulating interest in exchange programs that enhance skill development, particularly in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.


A highlight of the visit will be the participation of both leaders in political and diplomatic meetings, emphasizing shared values in finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication.


The France-Nigeria Business Council will also convene to discuss private sector participation in economic development. First Lady Sen. Oluremi Tinubu and Brigitte Macron will focus on initiatives like the Renewed Hope Initiative, which aims to empower women, children, and vulnerable groups.


The visit will conclude with a state dinner hosted by President Macron, symbolizing the strengthened ties between Nigeria and France.
