The Nigerian Presidency has dismissed claims made by Kemi Badenoch, the newly elected leader of the United Kingdom's Conservative Party.
Badenoch recounted an incident from her childhood in Nigeria, alleging that police officers stole her brother's shoe.
This narrative was quickly labeled a "cock and bull story" by President Bola Tinubu's Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi.
Ajayi criticized Badenoch for allegedly fabricating her experiences to gain favor in her new political role.
He questioned her credibility, stating, "For someone who has obviously lied about everything she said about her upbringing in Nigeria just for the feel-good effect of keeping her new job, how can we be sure her brother’s so-called police experience in Nigeria was not another made-up story?"
