Controversial Nigerian street-pop artist Portable has publicly apologized for slapping a pastor who was preaching at his bar.
The incident, which was captured on camera, led to widespread backlash from the public and religious figures alike.
In a video shared on social media, Portable explained that his actions were influenced by past traumatic experiences. He believed the preacher intended to harm him spiritually. "My fans, community issues are different from that of the street. May God forgive me. I didn’t know he was a genuine man of God. If I knew I wouldn’t have slapped him," Portable said in his apology.
The singer admitted his imperfections and sought forgiveness from God, his fans, and the preacher. "I’m also a child of God. I’m human, I’m not perfect. I am an orphan.
They have harmed my sister through this same strategy," he added, emphasizing his vulnerability and past experiences that led to his reaction.
