The Federal Government of Nigeria has urged newly inducted medical practitioners to remain in the country and contribute to national development rather than seeking opportunities abroad.
This plea was made during the induction ceremony of over 600 foreign-trained medical and dental graduates by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
Prof. Mohammad Pate, the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, emphasized the critical role these practitioners play in enhancing the Nigerian health sector.
Represented by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ms. Kachollom Daju, Prof. Pate stated, “I must say this, please don’t japa, let’s do this together and build a better image for the health sector and build our nation.”
The minister acknowledged the unique skills and experiences these graduates have acquired internationally, expressing optimism about their potential impact on the nation's healthcare system.
He highlighted the importance of their contributions, noting that their expertise could significantly benefit the well-being of Nigerian citizens.
