Plateau State Approves ₦70,000 Minimum Wage

Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Mutfwang, has approved a new minimum wage of ₦70,000.

This decision, announced on Thursday, November 14, by the Head of Service, Stephen Pam, reflects the government's commitment to improving the well-being of its employees.

The approval follows recommendations from the Committee on Consequential Adjustment on Salaries, which was finalized on Wednesday, November 13.

Stephen Pam emphasized the importance of this development, stating, "This move demonstrates the government’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of workers in the state."

Governor Mutfwang's decision comes at a time when various political and economic measures are shaping the governance landscape in Nigeria.

For instance, recent actions such as Governor Okpebholo's freezing of bank accounts in Edo State and the granting of bail to ex-governor Yahaya highlight the dynamic nature of Nigerian politics.

The implementation of the ₦70,000 minimum wage is expected to have a positive impact on the labor market in Plateau State, potentially setting a precedent for discussions on wages and worker rights across the country.
