Nigerian rapper Chibuzor Azubike Nelson, popularly known as Phyno, has expressed his frustration over continuous comparisons with fellow rapper Olamide.
On Friday, Phyno took to social media to issue a stern warning to fans, urging them to cease comparing him with Olamide or any other rapper. This reaction was sparked by a viral post on the platform X (formerly Twitter), where a user with the handle @TheDamiForeign posed the question: "When it comes to rap, who’s the GOAT? Phyno versus Olamide."
Phyno, who is known for rapping predominantly in Igbo, has often been compared to Olamide, who raps mainly in Yoruba. Despite their frequent collaborations and strong friendship, Phyno made it clear that he is tired of being pitted against his colleague.
In response to the post, he wrote, "Yo!!! Tf is wrong with u guys for God sake.. stop putting me up against my brother or anybody else for that matter. Do your banter with someone else.. na ala adi agba unu.. wtf."
This outburst highlights Phyno's desire to be recognized for his individual artistry rather than being constantly compared to others. The incident quickly gained traction online, with many fans and followers weighing in on the debate over who is the "Greatest of All Time" (GOAT) in Nigerian rap music. Despite the heated discussions, Phyno emphasized the importance of focusing on his unique contributions to the music industry without unnecessary comparisons.
