The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors' Forum, led by Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, expressed confidence in the party's ability to overcome its current challenges.
Despite facing internal divisions and external pressures, the governors affirmed that the PDP remains a formidable force in Nigeria's political landscape.
Governor Mohammed, speaking on behalf of the forum, acknowledged the concerns of party members and supporters regarding the "seeming divisions within its rank and file."
However, he assured that these are merely "minor setbacks" and emphasized the party's commitment to unity and cohesion. "This is a party that Nigerians have come to trust as the best platform to provide democratic governance to all; it is still the party to beat," he declared.
The forum called on the National Working Committee (NWC) to convene a meeting of the National Executive Council (NEC) to address internal disputes and strengthen the party's structure.
Additionally, Governor Mohammed praised the contributions of PDP members in the National Assembly, urging them to continue scrutinizing legislative bills to ensure fairness and national balance.
Amidst Nigeria's ongoing economic crisis, the governor also appealed to President Bola Tinubu to review his administration's macro-economic and fiscal policies to better address the welfare of Nigerians.
The forum commended Governor Caleb Mutfwang for hosting the meeting and extended condolences to the people of Plateau State following a recent fire outbreak at a wood market.
