The All Progressives Congress (APC) has gained substantial ground in Zamfara State as no fewer than 1,500 members from various political parties, including the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), and Young Progressive Party (YPP), have defected to its ranks.
This mass defection was formally acknowledged by Rep. Aminu Jaji, with Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka, the State Chairman of the APC Jajiyyaa Group, officiating the event.
The defectors include prominent figures such as the former APGA state chairman, Alhaji Rabi'u Salisu-Bature, and the YPP state chairman, Alhaji Sani Anka. From the PDP, notable leaders like Alhaji Nasiru Yusuf and Malam Ibrahim Tado from the Shinkafi Local Government Area have also joined the APC.
The move is seen as a strategic enhancement of the APC's influence in the region. Alhaji Isiyaka Ajiya-Anka expressed optimism about the impact of these new members, stating, "The caliber of the defectors, especially the leaders of other political parties, will significantly boost the strength of the Jajiyya movement."
He assured the new members of fair treatment and a collaborative working relationship aimed at strengthening the party's capacity in the state.
