Pastor Kumuyi Clarifies Controversial Decision to Allow Muslim Clerics on Church Pulpit

The founder of Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Kumuyi addressed the controversy surrounding his decision to allow Muslim clerics to speak from his pulpit during a church conference.

The event took place at the General Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as part of the Change Makers International (CMI) conference.

The incident gained attention when images of Muslim clerics wearing caps while speaking from the church pulpit circulated on social media, igniting debates and raising eyebrows among various religious communities.

In response to the uproar, Pastor Kumuyi released a now-viral video explaining the rationale behind his decision. "People were asking, 'Pastor WF, what are you looking at, look at that man having his cap on.' Yes, we are in the stadium, we are not in the church building, and so I do not have to challenge him, he has his cap on," Pastor Kumuyi stated.

He emphasized that the venue being a stadium rather than a traditional church setting influenced his decision to accommodate the clerics' attire and presence.

Pastor Kumuyi's explanation aims to quell misunderstandings and highlights the importance of interfaith dialogue and tolerance.

By allowing Muslim clerics to speak at the conference, he sought to foster a spirit of unity and mutual respect among different faith communities.
