Pastor Bolaji Idowu, the lead pastor of Harvesters International Christian Center (HICC), was released from police custody following what has been described as an "intervention from Aso Rock."
The pastor had been detained by the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja over allegations of a N1.5 billion fraud linked to a real estate scheme.
The arrest stemmed from accusations that one of Pastor Idowu's associates duped several individuals through a fraudulent real estate venture.
Investigations revealed that billions of naira were funneled through both the church's and Idowu's personal accounts.
Despite these serious allegations, Pastor Idowu's release was reportedly facilitated by influential figures within the Nigerian government and prominent clerics.
According to sources, "Pastor Bolaji was released late into the evening after big pastors and President Tinubu's Aso Villa intervened in the matter."
