Max Channon, a seasoned journalist with four decades of experience, has bravely shared his personal battle with cancer, attributing it to oral sex.
In an exclusive interview with the Express, Channon revealed that he was diagnosed with HPV16-positive oral squamous cell carcinoma of the tonsil, a type of throat cancer linked to the human papillomavirus (HPV).
This revelation echoes the earlier admission by Hollywood actor Michael Douglas, who also attributed his throat cancer to oral sex.
Channon's journey began with a diagnosis just before his 50th birthday, and despite the grueling radiochemotherapy treatment, he considers himself fortunate to be cancer-free today.
He candidly discussed the chronic fatigue and other side effects he endured but emphasized his gratitude for the care he received from the NHS.
Reflecting on his lifestyle, Channon acknowledged that his 30-year smoking habit and occasional indulgence in whisky may have contributed to his condition, but he firmly believes that it was the act of cunnilingus that led to his cancer.
Despite the challenges, Channon remains thankful and has no regrets about his past. He hopes that by sharing his story, more people will become aware of the risks associated with oral sex and the importance of early detection and treatment for HPV-related cancers.
"If I could go back in time, I probably wouldn't change anything," he stated, highlighting the enjoyment he derived from his life experiences.
