Ondo Guber: Ebiseni Still in the Race - Labour Party Dismisses Disqualification Rumours

The Labour Party has firmly denied reports that its candidate, Olusola Ebiseni, has been disqualified in the lead-up to the gubernatorial election in Ondo State.

This comes after a recent ruling by the Abuja Division of the Appeal Court, which overturned an earlier decision by the Federal High Court recognizing Ebiseni and his running mate, Ezekiel Awude, as the party's candidates.

The controversy began when the Appeal Court, led by Justice Hamma Barka, ruled against the Labour Party's appeal concerning Ebiseni's candidacy. Despite this, the Labour Party insists that the matter was resolved internally before the judgment was issued.

Mrs. Remilekun Ojo, the Ondo State Chairperson of the Labour Party, stated unequivocally, "The reports are all lies," attributing the confusion to political opponents who feel threatened by Ebiseni's candidacy.

Supporting this stance, Hon. Samuel Boniface, the Labour Party youth leader in Ondo State, revealed that there have been attempts by some stakeholders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to undermine the Labour Party's structure. He alleged that he was offered over N100 million to collapse the party's structure into the PDP, an offer he declined, emphasizing his commitment to the party's goals and integrity. Boniface also announced plans to take legal action against media outlets that reported Ebiseni's supposed disqualification.

"The reports we are seeing on social media are big lies," he asserted, adding that the party had settled the matter out of court and that their candidate remains listed on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

As the election approaches, the Labour Party is urging voters to disregard the disqualification rumors, highlighting the ongoing political maneuvering and tensions in the state.

The party remains steadfast in its support for Ebiseni, confident in his legitimacy as their candidate for the upcoming election.
