NTA Correspondent Arrested for Defying Security Order During Okpebholo's Budget Broadcast

An NTA correspondent was arrested during a live broadcast of Governor Okpebholo's budget presentation. The arrest followed the correspondent's refusal to comply with a security directive to cease the broadcast, which had been ordered by the Governor's security aides and his entourage.

The incident unfolded when the Governor's team, reportedly embarrassed by the broadcast, demanded that all media outlets halt their coverage and surrender their cameras. Despite these demands, the NTA correspondent continued the live stream, an act described by some as a "last-ditch effort to maintain transparency." This decision, however, led to the correspondent's arrest, as the broadcast was subsequently seized upon by PDP loyalists.

According to Truth Live News, the Governor's team did not anticipate that critical moments of the budget presentation would be aired publicly, leading to chaos both within the chambers and across the state. The correspondent defended their actions, stating, "Once the broadcast went live, it couldn’t be cut off," but acknowledged that the damage had already been done.

This incident has further fueled the perception that Governor Okpebholo's leadership is characterized by frequent gaffes and increasingly desperate attempts to control the narrative. As more governors across the nation express concern over the incident, questions arise about the trajectory of Okpebholo's administration.

Critics argue that this arrest is yet another embarrassing chapter in a tenure marked by poor decisions and a disregard for the public's right to information. Calls are mounting for the immediate release of the NTA correspondent, with many urging the people of Edo to demand better leadership, free from the embarrassment of constant blunders.
