Afrobeats star, Timaya in a recent interview with Naija FM, Lagos expressed his views on veteran Nigerian singer Eedris Abdulkareem, stating that "nobody respects him" within the music industry because "he's a talkative."
Timaya downplayed comparisons between himself and Abdulkareem, emphasizing that he does not share the same outspoken nature. He remarked, "I don’t talk like Eedris. I don’t behave like him… Nobody is afraid of him because he talks too much. He has always been a talkative."
Timaya further elaborated on his past relationship with Abdulkareem, describing it as a "relationship of the boss and apprentice." He noted that during his time serving in Abdulkareem's band, there was no personal connection, saying, "I don’t even think he knows my name at that time. I only give him shoutout because he was part of my success story."
Despite acknowledging Abdulkareem's role in his early career, Timaya stressed the importance of mutual respect, stating, "I respect myself so that people will respect me."
