No Vacancy in Rivers State for 2027 Governorship — PDP Fires Back at APC

The political landscape in Rivers State is intensifying as the Edwin Woko-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has issued a strong rebuttal to recent statements made by Abdullahi Ganduje, the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ganduje had announced the APC's strategic ambition to secure the Rivers State governorship in the upcoming 2027 elections.

During the inauguration ceremony of the Tony Okocha-led APC state executive in Port Harcourt, Ganduje emphasized that capturing the Government House was a top priority for the APC. "Capturing Rivers State’s Government House is a crucial goal for us in 2027," Ganduje declared, signaling the party's determination to expand its influence in the region.

In a swift response, Edwin Woko, representing the PDP in Rivers State, dismissed Ganduje's assertions, firmly stating, "There is no vacancy in Rivers State in 2027."

Woko shown the unwavering support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara's second term bid, emphasizing that the people of Rivers State would "leave no stone unturned" to ensure his continued leadership.

Woko further criticized the APC, asserting that the people of Rivers State have consistently rejected the party and its policies.

"The people of Rivers State had rejected APC and will continue to reject APC and her unfriendly policies," he stated, highlighting the ongoing political rivalry between the two major parties.
