NNPC's Port Harcourt Refinery Restart Vital for Nigeria's Energy Independence, Says NNPCL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has announced that the restart of the Port Harcourt Refinery is a pivotal development in Nigeria's pursuit of energy self-sufficiency.

This announcement was made by Olufemi Soneye, the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPCL, during an energy relations stakeholders engagement held in Abuja.

Soneye emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, "The restart of the Port Harcourt Refinery marks a significant turning point in Nigeria’s quest for energy self-sufficiency, reaffirming the company’s commitment to revitalizing the nation’s refining capacity."

Under the leadership of Group CEO Mele Kyari, NNPCL has achieved groundbreaking milestones that have redefined the trajectory of Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.

The refinery, with a capacity of 60,000 barrels per day, is expected to enhance the country's energy infrastructure significantly.

In addition to the refinery's revival, NNPCL has been at the forefront of promoting Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner and more cost-effective energy alternative.

"NNPC has also championed the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas, CNG, as an alternative energy source, offering Nigerians a cleaner and more cost-effective solution amidst rising global energy costs," Soneye noted.
